Quality Childcare at an Affordable Price
Every child is unique and every child is special

Greenacres believes that every child is an individual that has their own interests and needs and will develop at their own pace. We provide a stimulating and fun environment in which the children can explore and practise their skills in a safe and exciting atmosphere. At Greenacres we use The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework to support the children’s learning through planned and impulsive activity. We believe that if a child is happy and secure that their confidence and self-esteem will develop naturally.

I am Susan Green the managing director of Greenacres, I started up the company back in 1996. As I reflect on my journey, I always knew I wanted to work with children, I had a real passion & my desire to make a real difference to the lives of children and families. Over the
years I gained experience in various childcare settings, which enhanced my vision for providing my own high-quality childcare.
Our philosophy became our guiding principle, our blueprint for success. We were determined to offer ‘high-quality childcare at an affordable price’, making it accessible to everyone, not
just those who could afford it and offering opportunities for every child.
Alongside my wonderful team, we created something special, a nursery that was more than just a place for children to learn and grow, but a community and a family. We are proud of our
reputation for excellence, our commitment to our staff, and our dedication to providing the best possible experiences for our children, we strive to continue to have the reputation as the setting that has it all. Going above and beyond is what we believe in and to be the best
early education setting.

Enabling Environments – ‘The Environment plays a key role in supporting and extending children’s development and learning’. (EYFS Principle).
At Greenacres we believe that building a child’s esteem and confidence is of the utmost importance. If children believe in themselves they will tackle each exciting challenge with confidence, thus learning for experience.
Our team of dedicated staff are committed to creating a secure and loving environment for your child to learn and develop. Each room has been appropriately equipped and the curriculum carefully planned to make learning fun and exciting for each age group.
Every child is unique and every child is special. Therefore the staff will welcome interaction from parents and look forward to regular opportunities to inform you of their progress. The profiles and learning plans of each child will help illustrate their growth, understanding and skills.
Greenacres provides care for all family needs with an understanding that busy lives often need flexibility. We are inspected by Ofsted and have an excellent relationship with the local Early Years Inclusion & Improvement Officer whom advises and guides us. We are assessed using the IQC (Improving Quality for Children) framework and are always looking ahead to see how we can make improvements.

Susan Green is the director and owner of Greenacres, with Michelle Strong as the area manager, Each site has a qualified and experienced branch manager, excellent qualified nursery officers and dedicated nursery assistants that further enhance the team.
We endeavour to maintain a high ratio of qualified staff alongside training suitable team members to reach our high standards. We carefully place our staff according to experience, skills and personality to create the perfect teams for each room and then of course our next priority is to keep our staff.
We have a low staff turnover, which we relate primarily to our techniques of further training, regular appraisal system, appreciative incentive schemes and excellent working conditions.
A good keyworker system ensures that parents and children feel comfortable within the nursery and confidentiality is maintained. Many events, activities and opportunities are put into place to enable parents to get to know our staff which we believe aids parents in feeling confident about their child’s care..

All children are very welcome at our facilities and will be given every opportunity to maximise their full potential and enjoy their day. We recognise each child’s individual needs without discrimination and enable everyone to celebrate their individuality positively.
Our nursery ensures each child is fully integrated into the environment and respects and gains from the diversity of the group. The setting and activities are regularly reviewed and adapted to ensure we continually meet the needs of every child’s rights to access a full programme appropriate to their interests and needs.

We believe that the health and safety of those in our care is of the utmost importance. We endeavour to ensure that Greenacres is a safe and healthy place for all children, staff, parents, carers and visitors.
The settings aim to make children, parents/carers, staff and other visitors aware of health and safety issues and to minimise the hazards and risks to enable the children to thrive in a healthy and safe environment. Child protection and the Safeguarding of children in our care is a responsibility that we take very seriously by following the guidelines of the Kingston and Richmond Safeguarding Children Partnership.

Resources and activities are carefully selected and recorded to allow children practical experience, opportunities to build on their natural curiosity and exercise the use of their imagination inclusive of language and mathematical skills.
Staff encourage children’s self confidence and develop their self esteem and independence, they will help children gently learn what is right and wrong and work closely with parents to build positive relationships. Records are kept to ensure each individual child’s educational needs are met and appropriate support and input are given to each developing skill.

Here at Greenacres we believe that it is important to provide nutritious balanced meals that are appropriate to each child’s individual dietary needs. The children are encouraged to make their own choices of healthy eating by being given information, advice and opportunity to choose through activities and mealtimes.
Staff work with parents to ensure that full information is shared to enable us to provide a diet that considers each child’s preferences, families cultural beliefs, allergies and chances to explore new tastes and textures. The provision of water is readily available for all ages throughout the day as staying hydrated is considered paramount to our children’s welfare.

Every child in Greenacres care has the right to a wonderful experience of fun, learning and development. It is important throughout that we are able to monitor your child’s progress individually and intervene early if any struggles are apparent. We work closely to support parents in conjunction with other professionals if needed. Our SENCo (Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator) alongside your keyworkers will ensure as a parent that you are informed, included and supported through any challenging times.
Our setting is a totally inclusive environment for every adult and child. We believe that each of us has needs personal to our individual being, so it sits naturally with us that any diverse, additional or complex needs will be accommodated as part our ethos. Barriers will be discarded and adaptations put in place to ensure that everyone who enters our building has the best possible experience regardless of individuality.
Differences are very positively celebrated and understood within a philosophy of respect for ourselves and each other.

It is our responsibility to put the needs of children’s safety as paramount to our existence. Please do not be offended if questions are asked as your child’s protection is our priority. We work very hard to support every family unit and will never breach confidentiality or act unprofessionally.
There is much information available to explain our commitment to safeguarding and the procedures we follow. It is a good idea for all parents to be familiar with these policies and of course feel confident to discuss further how your child’s safety and wellbeing is put firmly in our hands when they are in our care.
We have a Designated Safeguarding Lead on site at the settings who is trained alongside your keyworker to support any parents who are experiencing difficult times and will make decisions on when a referral to the SPA team may be needed. Please take note of our Safeguarding Board to be assured of how seriously we take the safety and protection of your child.
Please see our Safeguarding policy below.

Our setting aims to provide a stimulating range of experiences and activities for children to make sense of the world through play. We aim to provide situations in which children can develop self-discipline and self-esteem in an atmosphere of mutual respect and encouragement.
We recognise the importance of adults providing a role model for children. We acknowledge conflicts occur in childhood and adulthood and through viewing conflict as a learning opportunity children will gain a valuable lifelong skill that benefits themselves, their families and society. We believe in the use of positive discipline as a more effective way of setting limits for children. This will give children appropriate skills and strategies to deal with difficult situations.
Bi-annually parents will receive a newsletter from Miss Susan updating families on news, what’s going on at Greenacres and any new legislation. It will often contain a policy review and some deeper information on our curriculums.
Alongside this, each branch manager and room will write a newsletter that is much more personal to the individual classes.
All current newsletters will be emailed straight to you and paper copies will be available in the foyers.
At the end of each planning and development cycle your keyworker will invite you to come in for a one to one consultation to discuss your child’s experiences at the setting. Using your child’s Individual Learning Plan we can fully discuss progress being made and share your child’s interests and next steps to their learning. By sharing information and expectations we can develop the next goals and how to achieve them together. Areas of concern or intervention needed can then be discussed and a shared action plan put in place. This is a really great time for keyworkers and parents to get to know each other.
Every year we run an open evening at your setting. After much consultation with parents and their busy lives we decided to make this event quite multi-purpose to encourage as many people to come as possible. The evening starts with a drop-in, a chance for staff to chat and show you round and then moves on to a parent workshop, which is usually about current issues, deeper understanding of how we assess children’s learning or information to inspire great activity and ideas with your children.
Why not come and witness first hand exactly what we do with our curriculums and our days of fun and activity. As they say, “if you walked a mile in our shoes……” you’d learn so much more about what we do and why we do it. It is often better to do this on a day or in an area when your child isn’t with you so that you get a chance to really witness and join the activities for yourself. It’s a great way to meet staff and see how they work, maybe find out more about the next room that your child is going to move up to, or just understand some of the techniques or behind the scene plans.
Work with us for the morning and then finish with a relaxed lunch with Miss Susan and your keyworker to discuss your experience.
We use many ways of evaluating our setting from all different angles. Gaining a diversity of opinions from staff, parents, other professionals and of course the children, we can ensure to always be developing.
We are never complacent that we have achieved our maximum potential, so whether it is at open evenings, with questionnaires or a quick phone call, we welcome your suggestions. Our Continuous Improvement folder is a working document with active goals to achieve.
There is a full procedure in place for parents to be reassured that they will be listened to and taken seriously. Please don’t hesitate to tell us what you think as this is the only way that we can evaluate that we are doing the best we can for you and your child. Listening to parents as our partners gives us the opportunity to improve and enhance our practice. This is why we work hard on ensuring that our relationship is one of trust and respect. By providing opportunities with questionnaires, open evenings and open house we hope that you always feel you can talk to us.
Sometimes a quick chat with a trusted staff member or manager is all you need to set things back on track, but Susan Green is also always available as the owner to solve any anxieties. Please be assured that whichever route you take it will be dealt with promptly.
If at any point you feel we have not resolved your issues you may call OFSTED our governing body to take things further.
Breakfast is the most important meal of the day! Between 8-8.30am the children are able to choose from a range of cereals, fruit and toast to get the day started the right way!
This is the time for your child to explore their environment, making choices of where and what they would like to play with. They can investigate all areas within their room and take part in the exciting adult led activities that the staff have carefully planned.
This is time for the children to spend time with their key person focusing on individual goals to further their development.
Our gardens are an extension of the learning environment indoors. There are a wealth of areas to explore such as the mark making and reading areas for the more creative child or the climbing frames and bikes for the more physical ones. There are also plenty of opportunities for growing and investigating the more natural parts of the garden.
Greenacres is a Healthy Eating nursery and each setting has it's own menu and cook that freshly prepares a hot lunch each day. The menu takes into account a variety of cultures, tastes and textures and we cater for all dietary requirements. Dessert is a range of fresh fruit and natural yoghurt.
Please note that Greenacres are nut and shellfish free settings.
We set a time aside each day to encourage the children to reflect on their day so far and what is coming next. This session helps them to feel relaxed and focused and promotes their wellbeing and mindfulness.
The children also recall their day by talking about the activities they have taken part in, the meals they have eaten and what they have enjoyed the most. We use this information to display to our parents at the end of each day, encouraging conversations between parents and children on the way home.
Throughout the day children will take part in an array of focus and circle times. These let us spend more time concentrating on our monthly theme, the childrens interest, songs and stories.
Our tea is served as a buffet style with a variety of breads, fillings, fruits and vegetables encouraging a well balanced diet. This is designed to leave the children feeling full until they arrive home for their evening meal.
We offer a variety of extra-curricular activities such as football, music classes and forest school. These are optional and an extra charge, your child will be offered these classes according to their days and ages.

After a parent views the setting and is given the chance to view policies, practices and receive a prospectus, they have the option to apply for a space; they submit a registration form, completed terms and conditions alongside a registration fee to be placed on the waiting list. Spaces are offered out on a first come first serve basis. Greenacres welcomes children from all backgrounds and all abilities.
Spaces are subject to availability. In the event of a high demand for spaces, we look at the following criteria for allocation of the space:
• The length of time on the waiting list
• An available space in a room suitable for the child’s age
• Specific days becoming available
• If the child already has a sibling with us.
Once a space has been offered to a parent, they are required to pay a refundable deposit to confirm acceptance of the space. Parents are encouraged to arrange settlings with their key-worker; they will discuss their medical needs, likes, dislikes and general liaison. The parent then leaves the child for a period of one hour with us, and then on the next visit we will settle for a period of two hours. The child’s first full day is usually a shorter one, ready for full attendance, building a relationship with the key-worker for further continuity.
